Beyond the Snow: Jimena M., Snowshoe

Across each snowbound mountain destination on the Ikon Pass, there’s always more than meets the eye going on behind the scenes. Mountain wide – from before the sun rises until well after it sets – these activities and actions are rarely seen by guests, yet they are experienced day in, day out, constantly creating an on-mountain experience that is special and unique.

Beyond the snow, it takes motivated, passionate people to move mountains. These are the employees who have demonstrated what it takes to keep things running, stepping up in hard times, and forever showing love for their mountain communities.

Jimena M. - HR Specialist at Snowshoe Mountain

Originally from the south of Peru, Jimena arrived at Snowshoe Mountain as a J-1 employee over 10 years ago, wondering exactly what to expect. What she found was a community based on inclusion and respect, one that provided an opportunity to explore a lifestyle of adventure in the mountains. She immediately fell in love.

Today, Jimena helps to fulfill the HR needs of a major mountain destination, providing guidance and administrative support for a host of different mountain roles. Without her expertise and a love for the mountain, the staff at Snowshoe would not be as strong, as devoted, or as happy as it is.

In the decade since she arrived, the local community has made a massive impact on Jimena. This has led to the easy decision to call Snowshoe home, and it’s where she has grown her family by two.

Embracing all that the mountain has to offer, Jimena’s daughter has taken quickly to snow sports. She’s now a hard-charging member of Snowshoe’s Snowtracks program, a season-long ski and ride team where she is able to ride with a dedicated coach and a crew of lil rippers. Through opportunities like this, Jimena and her family are able to further build community relationships while also building a direct relationship with the mountains.

"Snowshoe Mountain, in general, has been offering me so many things, and I will always be thankful for the opportunity they have been giving me for so many years."
